I watch humorously as fake individuals search for something real

So I simply take a knee and pray to set my conscience free

I invested in wisdom but my peers reciprocated ignorance in return

I attempted to buy back darkness from the heartless and return light from the heavens above

I failed, so I watch from the distance as the power of hate takes it’s toll, fathers and mothers refusing to play their role

I feel like a bird in a cage, a prisoner falsely accused ..slowly dying from rage.

Give me that joy that I can’t explain. Add extra peace to ease my pain. I need love that won’t ever change

Call on me and I’ll come, send me and I’ll go, lead and I’ll follow. Just don’t let me fall..a mere victim to this unwritten law

About Lazarus_of_Montserrado

Lazarus (Hebrew: “God will help”) Siafa was born in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa. A once abundantly prosperous and promising nation that was crippled by poverty, violence and corruption in the late 80’s to early 90’s due to a Civil War that lasted approximately 14 years. This blog is a collection of thought provoking, spirit lifting and ambition driven poems as well as spoken word written by Lazarus for those who share a similar dream and perception of life. The vision that no matter the obstacle, failure, setback, trial or loss in life that you hold the power to overcome it all. You may have been born to lose but in time can be built to win and God willing can accomplish whatever your heart desires.
